Steve Mahrer of Panasonic gave an overview of ATSC standards and discussed multiformat video. He outlined Panasonic's system plan for digital television including products for the various scan and aspect combinations, and explained how the 50 Mb/s DVC Pro tape format can handle a variety of video systems. Among the equipment covered were acquisition cameras, field editing systems, robotics, D-5 extensions for HDTV, HDTV studio cameras and switchers, and format converters. The presentation concluded with a demonstration videotape showing 1080-line interlaced video from a D-5 machine on a 16-by-9 monitor.
