We are pleased to once again welcome John F.X. Browne to our Detroit Section meeting. John will discuss a number of issues that affect all of us who work in TV or radio broadcasting, cable, telco, and related industries. John's unique perspective as head of a leading engineering consulting firm should provide us with an informative and entertaining presentation. John F.X. Browne has been actively engaged in the broadcast and communications engineering fields for over thirty years, and served in several broadcast industry positions prior to establishing the consulting firm of John F.X. Browne & Associates in 1966. Named a SMPTE Fellow in 1978, John's affiliation with the organization includes five terms on the Board of Governors, and is on the SMPTE Journal Board of Editors. He is a member of, or affiliated with many other professional organizations and committees, including the Association of Federal Communications Consulting Engineers (AFCCE), where he chairs the committee on Advanced Television Systems (DTV). Mr. Browne has also authored a number of engineering papers, technical articles and chapters of well-known reference books, and is often called upon as an Expert Witness before the FCC and in court and other legal proceedings. In addition, John holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot (Multi-engine) Certificate, and in 1986 was the second inductee onto the Michigan Aviation Hall of Fame. Managers' Dinner will be at 5:30 PM at Greek Isles, 39777 Grand River Ave., Novi (just west of Haggerty Rd. in Pheasant Run Plaza). (248) 442-9255. Map. All are welcome to join us.
