Broadcast stations and facilities rely on reliable data and file storage for content creation and playout. When a natural or man-made disaster occurs, strategies must be in place for recovery from interruption or loss of this information, and for return to operation in as short a time as possible. Both broadcasters and content creation facilities can benefit from the information presented in our October program. John R. Schilberg of Masstech Group will lead an interactive session using the "Masstech Facility Planning Guide". He will discuss the many benefits a file-based system can offer, including disaster recovery and video archiving. Attendees are invited to bring their laptops to join in as they develop an overview of their own file- based future using a file-based MS Excel 2003 worksheet. John Schilberg has been Masstech's Central Region Sales Manager since January, 2007. He has been involved in TV broadcasting for 33 years. In the first 20 of those years he has been an Engineer, Chief Engineer, Director of Engineering, and a VP of Sales & Engineering. In Houston he was KHOU-TV's (CBS/Belo) Assistant Chief Engineer, KHCW- TV's (CW/Tribune) Director of Engineering & Technology, KTRK-TV's (ABC Owned) Director of Engineering, and Broadcast Digital Systems' VP of Sales & Engineering.
